The search to cast an actor for the role of young Han Solo in a Star Wars spin-off has been narrowed down to a small number of names.
The Hollywood Reporter broke news that studios reached a final shortlist of actors they are considering to portray the young version of Harrison Ford‘s famous hero.
According to the report, Alden Ehrenreich, Jack Reynor and Taron Egerton are three actors in talks to play Han after casting directors viewed audition tapes.
Alden is known for his scene-stealing turn in Hail, Caesar!, Jack broke out in Transformers: Age of Extinction and Taron soared to stardom in Eddie the Eagle.
It’s rumored there are other names on the shortlist, but due to the high level of secrecy surrounding any of the upcoming Star Wars films, only the three aforementioned men can be confirmed.
Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort are also said to have met with the directors of the film, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who worked together on 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie.
It’s estimated over 2,500 actors either met with the filmmakers or sent in audition tapes in an effort to land the coveted role.
The film is backed by Disney and Lucasfilm and is scheduled for a 2018 release. ~Matthew Pariselli
