17 AgainZac Efron‘s comedy 17 Again (Tribute viewer rating 3.5) rose to the top of the box office this weekend, stealing the number one spot from last week’s top grossing Hannah Montana: The Movie (Tribute viewer rating 3.9). 17 Again brought in $24.1 million, sending the Miley Cyrus flick to fourth place with $12.7 million. In the film, Efron plays a middle-aged man who is transformed to high school age and watches his son and daughter deal with their teenage lives. “There’s no question that Zac’s a star,” said Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Bros. “He’s such a hardworking, talented individual. He certainly has given his all to promote this movie.” Both Efron and Cyrus have Disney to thank for their success — Efron rose to stardom in the High School Musical movies, while Cyrus has been the star of Disney Channel’s hit TV series Hannah Montana since 2006. Ben Affleck and Russell Crowe‘s thriller State of Play (Tribute viewer rating 4.17) stole the second box office spot with $14.1 million. Monsters vs. Aliens (Tribute viewer rating 4.25) took third place with $12.9 million, while Fast & Furious (Tribute viewer rating 3.31) rounded out the top five with $12.3 million. ~Meryl H.
