The producers of The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud have decided to film in Vancouver, rather than in Marblehead, Massachusetts, where the story is set. Zac Efron will star in the film, which is about two brothers, one of whom dies in a tragic crash. The movie begins production in July. Though Marblehead politicians lobbied hard to get filmmakers to choose their town for shooting, local administrator Tony Sasso told the Massachusetts paper The Daily Item: “I’m not at all surprised. Vancouver is a lot cheaper (by far I’m sure), has a much more established film industry and is probably easier to access. The downside to access is, of course, the privacy Zac would have gained in Marblehead will be completely lacking in Vancouver.” Though Vancouver is usually considered a laidback town for most celebrities, Rob Pattinson and the rest of the Twilight cast, who were filming The Twilight Saga: New Moon in Vancouver but left this week for Cannes, France, were followed by fans wherever they went. Pattinson will return to the city in October to begin filming The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
