Colby Donaldson biography
Date of Birth: April 1, 1974
Born and raised in Christoval, Texas, Colby Donaldson graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in business marketing. An avid athlete, he was working as a custom auto designer and builder in Dallas when he was accepted in 2001 as a competitor on the reality show Survivor: The Australian Outback. He won a number of challenges on the show, but when it came down to the final one, he made a move that was seen as chivalrous, enabling another finalist, Tina, to walk away with $1 million dollars, while he received $100,000. However, the outcome ensured he would be one of the most talked about Survivor contestants ever and he soon parlayed his newfound fame into an acting career.
Moving to Los Angeles, Donaldson became the face of Schick in their ads and commercials, then quickly landed guest roles on TV shows such as Just Shoot Me!, Reba, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Young and the Restless, JAG and 8 Simple Rules.for Dating My Teenage Daughter, as well as a supporting role in the PAX TV movie Another Pretty Face (2002). He also was cast as Gunnar, a recurring character, on the Friends spinoff, Joey.
Donaldson made the leap to film with a role the indie, Dirty Love (2005). A small role in the major motion picture Red Eye (2005) starring Rachel McAdams followed. Though he only had a few lines, his appearance garnered him another round of attention as he was asked to do interviews for the film's press junket.
In his spare time, Donaldson enjoys water skiing, beach volleyball and mountain biking as well as designing and building furniture.
