Frank Langella

An extremely versatile actor, Frank Langella is equally at home onstage as he is on screen. Having graduated from the acting program at Syracuse University, he won an Obie Award in 1965 for his work in the play The Old Glory. He then went on to receive a Golden Globe nomination as "Most Promising Newcomer - Male" for his role in his feature film debut—Diary of a Mad Housewife (1970).

In 1975, Langella won a Tony Award as "Best Featured Actor in a Play" for Seascape. He followed that up with the title role in the Edward Gorey production of Dracula in 1977, which enjoyed a three year run as one of the most popular productions on Broadway. Langella was featured in the "I Love New York" advertising campaign, both on television and in print, and went on to repeat the role in the film version Dracula (1979), directed by John Badham and co-starring Sir Laurence Olivier.

On the small screen he's made guest appearances on shows such Marcus Welby, M.D., Mannix and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, as well as playing regular roles in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Kitchen Confidential and Unscripted.

In 2002, Langella won his second Tony award as "Best Featured Actor in a Play" for Fortune's Fool, then won a third in 2007, this time for "Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play" for Frost/Nixon.

When he repeated his role as Richard Nixon in the film version, he received his first Academy Award nomination for his work. In November 2008, he was again on Broadway, this time playing Sir Thomas More in a revival of A Man for All Seasons. He also also continued to see success on the big screen with supporting roles in the films Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2011), Unknown (2011), Robot & Frank (2012), and Noah (2014).

The legendary thespian can most recently be seen in the dramedies Youth in Oregon (2016) and Captain Fantastic (2016), as well as the FX series The Americans.

Divorced in 1996, Langella has two children with his ex-wife, Ruth Weil. He dated (and lived with) comedian Whoopi Goldberg from 1995 to 2001.
