Griffin Gluck biography
Date of Birth: August 24, 2000
Los Angeles-born Griffin Alexander Gluck is the youngest child of film director and producer Cellin Gluck, and producer Karin Beck. Griffin is of mixed heritage and background. His paternal grandparents were archaeologist and historian Jack Gluck, who was of Jewish heritage, and Sumi Hiramoto, who was of Japanese descent. On his mother’s side, Griffin has Irish, German, Polish, English, and Scottish ancestry.
The child actor first caught the acting bug when he and his older sister Caroline went to a summer children’s showcase of Guys and Dolls at the Palisades Playhouse. At age three, he was signed by an agent, who happened to be a friend of his father's, and landed his first film role in a short co-produced by his father, called Time Out.
Since then, he has appeared in TV commercials for both Japanese and American markets, including Verizon's "Lemonade Stand" and a national campaign for Eggo NutriGrain Waffles. In 2008, he appeared in the Japanese remake of the film Sideways, also directed by his father. His big break came in 2010, when he was cast in Just Go With It, starring Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, and Nicole Kidman. For his role in the film as Michael Murphy, he received a Young Artist Award nomination.
Also in 2010, Griffin had his first appearance on a television series, on the hit show The Office. In 2011, he was cast as Mason Warner in the series Private Practice, and was even upped to series regular. When the show was cancelled, he later shot a TV pilot called Back in the Game. Griffin has also made appearances on other shows such as Silicon Valley.
He played another series regular when cast as Charlie in FOX's Red Band Society in February 2014. In this medical drama series, Griffin played a comatose kid and is the narrator of the show.
Recently, Griffin starred as Rafe Khatchadorian in the 2016 family comedy film Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life, alongside Lauren Graham. He also filmed a role in the 2016 comedy feature Why Him?, alongside James Franco, Bryan Cranston, and Zoey Deutch.
Griffin has played soccer competitively, and he also enjoys skateboarding and card tricks. Musically, he is a fan of rap, listening to artists such as Chance the Rapper and Childish Gambino.
