Born in Canton, Ohio, Jacob Allen Abel is an American model and actor. His first acting role was in the Disney Channel original movie Go Figure, playing a young hockey player named Spencer. In 2008, he received a Rising Star award at the 16th Hamptons International Film Festival for his work in Flash of Genius .

He has since done many guest roles on television shows such as The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, ER and Grey's Anatomy. He also played a role on a 10-episode web-series called Angel of Death.

Abel auditioned to play the role of Edward Cullen in Twilight , but the part went to Robert Pattinson. In regards to not getting the part, Abel told Interview magazine, "I don't want to say I sabotaged myself, but I have a tendency to go against the grain."

In 2009, he played Brian Nelson in The Lovely Bones , starring Saoirse Ronan, then went on to portray Luke Castellan in 2010's Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief , reprising the role for the 2013 sequel Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters , which also stars Logan Lerman and Pierce Brosnan. In the sci-fi teen action flick I Am Number Four he acted alongside Alex Pettyfer and Dianna Agron. Abel re-teamed with his The Lovely Bones co-star Ronan for The Host , based on the novel written by Stephanie Meyer. He then starred in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013) and more recently, he starred in Good Kill (2015).
