Jeremy Davies biography

The Million Dollar Hotel

Jeremy Davies

Birth Name: Jeremy Davies Boring

Date of Birth: October 8, 1969

A talented actor who made his name playing a series of damaged and offbeat characters, Jeremy Davies spent most of his childhood moving around, living in New Orleans, Alaska, Michigan, Wyoming, Idaho, Hawaii, California and South America. When his parents divorced, he remained with his mother. Following her death from Lupus in the mid-'70s, he went to live with his father and stepmother in Santa Barbara, California. They later moved to Iowa.

Most children who are moved around constantly don't make friends easily, in order to avoid the inevitable pain of separation, and Jeremy was no exception. Additionally, he began to develop ulcers. After high school, he attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, Ca., where he began to win bit parts and small roles in TV series and movies.

After a one-year stint on the daytime drama General Hospital in 1992, Davies landed his first leading role in the acclaimed independent film Spanking the Monkey (1994), and earned himself an Independent Spirit award for Best Debut Performance. He then gained international exposure playing Corporal Upham, the cowardly interpreter in Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan (1998).

Davies continued to land lead roles, from The Million Dollar Hotel (2000), Investigating Sex (2001), and CQ (2002) to co-starring roles in Dogville (2003), Manderlay (2005) and Rescue Dawn (2007). On TV he played Charles Mansion in the telefilm Helter Skelter (2004), and when cast as a regular in the hit series Lost as scientist Daniel Farraday in 2008, Davies earned even more exposure and fame, remaining on the series until the 2010 finale.

Although he is currently single, Davies has graced his arm with a number of Hollywood starlets, including Drew Barrymore and Milla Jovovich.
