Joel McHale biography
Date of Birth: November 20, 1971
Born in Rome and raised in Seattle, Washington, Joel was a history major at the University of Washington, where he was also a member of their championship football team. In addition, Joel received his Master of Fine Arts from UW's Actor's Training Program.
Currently starring on NBC's hit comedy series, Community, Joel hosted the 2011 Independent Spirit Awards and has worked on a number of films, including playing an FBI agent opposite Matt Damon in Steven Soderbergh's comedic thriller The Informant. In Robert Rodriguez's Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, Joel played a spy-hunting reporter married to Jessica Alba, who plays the stepmother to his kids.
He completed a role in Seth MacFarlane's Ted, a live action tale about a boy and his teddy bear, starring opposite Mark Walhberg and Mila Kunis. Other films include What's Your Number? opposite Anna Farris, The Big Year with Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson and Deliver Us From Evil (2014). More recently, Joel provided the voice of Agent Campbell in the animated crime comedy The Happytime Murders (2018), alongside Melissa McCarthy.
In addition, Joel continues to satirize pop culture and current events each week on E!'s The Soup. Joel's quick wit and sharp comedic timing have made The Soup a pop culture phenomenon. Joel also performs his stand-up act around the country to sold-out audiences.
He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons.
