Munro Chambers biography
Sadie's Last Days on Earth
Date of Birth: July 29, 1990
Born on July 29, 1990 in Ajax, Ontario and raised in Newmarket, Ontario, Munro Chambers began acting when he was just seven years old, sharing the role of Rob Bhaer on the Canadian-filmed TV series Little Men with his brother, Thomas Chambers. The popular show ran for two seasons, ending in 1999.
Appearing in commercials for a variety of products over the next few years, in 2002 Munro landed a guest appearance on the Pax TV series Doc, starring Billy Ray Cyrus as a country doctor working in the city. Work came pretty regularly after that, with roles in the TV movies Good Fences and A Wrinkle in Time (both 2003). His feature film debut was a supporting role in the Lionsgate film Godsend (2004), starring Robert De Niro. His second film was the family movie Bailey's Billions (2005), about a golden retriever who inherits one billion dollars when his owner dies.
Munro stole scenes as the energetic and imaginative Wilder on the childrens' series The Latest Buzz (2007 to 2010), about a group of students hired to write for a teen magazine. The show won him a lot of fans and got him noticed within the industry, because soon after The Latest Buzz ended in 2010, he was cast as Eli Goldsworthy on the popular CBC series, Degrassi: The Next Generation. He stayed with the series for more than 150 episodes over a five year period. In 2014, Munro received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for his work on the series in the episode "Ray of Light, Part 2."
In 2015, he landed the starring role in Turbo Kid , which won awards at film festivals around the world. Munro won the Jury Prize for Best Actor at the Victoria TX Indie Film Fest for his work in the film.
In 2016, Munro appeared in six episodes of the 12-episode TV series Second Jen, played Teddy in the film Sadie's Last Days on Earth alongside his former Degrassi co-star, Ricardo Hoyos, and the romantic lead in the film Country Crush (2016), about an aspiring country singer who falls for a small town mechanic.
From 2018 to 2019, he played roles in several Canadian films, including the thriller Knuckleball (2018), the horror film Hellmington (2018), the comedy horror Harpoon (2019) and the post-apocalyptic actioner, Riot Girls (2019).
He's completed two more films for release in 2020 and is currently in pre-production for a sequel to Turbo Kid .
Munro was a nationally ranked trampolinist when he was younger, as was his brother Thomas, although he's been on record as saying Thomas was better than he was. His uncle is Canadian comedian Colin Mochrie, whom he credits with being his inspiration for getting into the industry.
