In 1999 he received a Best Director nomination for his work on the feature film The X Files (1998) from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. His next feature, Reign of Fire (2002), received a Best Film nomination at the Catalonian International Film Festival. Bowman then teamed with Jennifer Garner to bring Elektra (2005) to the big screen.
