The official trailer for Complete Unknown opens as a Brooklyn-based woman named Alice (Rachel Weisz) is seen filling many identities, ranging from stage performer to surgeon. As images of her in each unique role are played out, she says, "There's this moment when you're a blank slate. I realized I could be anyone I wanted. I could live a thousand lives."
The trailer then shifts to a dinner party where Alice is introduced to a man named Tom (Michael Shannon). As their encounter unfolds, it becomes clear that they have a history together.
