Approaching 50, lifelong stand-up comic Bruce Madsen is past his prime while his one-time host on a macho cable comedy series called The Bro Show, Jack Taylor, is now a beloved talk show host.
This sends Bruce into futile, self-destructive attempts to land sitcom roles, while enduring constant reminders of his place on the B-list and an endless stream of Chuckle Huts and Comedy Caves from Buffalo to Houston.
Being on the road so often means he doesn't have much of a home to come back to. His wife (Illeana Douglas), and their daughter (Cynthy Wu) live with his wife’s boyfriend (David Koechner) in the home Bruce bought in better times, while he lives in the garage.
