The Canadian trailer for Standing Tall begins with a mother abandoning her toddler son Maloney (Rod Paradot) as she hysterically tells a juvenile judge to take him as the boy watches in confusion. We then see Maloney as a troublesome teen. We see him take a joy ride in a car, throwing fits of anger and showing disregard for authority. He's given a second chance: a new counselor (Benoît Magimel) and a new foster home. Things seem to be going better, but Maloney is still deeply disturbed by his mother's abandonment.
