Fabulous eye candy of a movie and since the plot and characterizations ( especially Woody Harrelson's character)were actually better than I thought they would be, I give it 4 stars . The worst part of the whole experience for me was unfortunately the music score -- really mediocre for an epic-themed film.

EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And on a side note, I don't know what it is about Thandie Newton that gets me so hot and bothered every time I see her in a movie, but... DAMN!)

Predictable, boring and a total waste of your time and money. I was really looking forward to seeing this movie as I love the "big special effects"...therefore the storyline itself didn't really have to be all that good to hold my attention. Unfortunately it failed at even coming off as mediocre.

The effects and Woody Harrelson's stand out performance make this film. I give credit to Emmerich for blowing everything up but he's a horrible writer. They were trying to come off serious and it just turned out to be funny; I was one of the few to laugh throughout the whole film . IMO Day After is a far more superior disaster film but make your own opinion. 2/5

Great special effects, kind of long, obviusly most of the movie is not believable and impossible so don't over analyze it and take it for what it is...great action packed movie

An entertaining, insightful, optimistic movie about the forces that drive us. I found this movie enjoyable and was expecting to be disappointed. I was so impressed with the quality of the effects and the power of the message that I was taken aback. Though the science is junk (mutating neutrinos), the whole concept is a movie trying to come to grips with our decaying world and some of the hard choices we'll have to make. 5 Stars.

A very entertaining movie. Those who criticize the theme as being not believable forget that this is science fiction. Is blowing up a planet with energy beam from a space station as in Star Wars more believable? I do agree that there are too many narrow escapes and impossible situations like the kid being under water for so long. Those situations should be realistic even in a sci-fi movie. The storyline could also be tighter. But overall, it is an enjoyable movie

Disappointing...they only mention the Mayan calendar in passing...movie was too long...acting is bad...the numerous escape scenes are bloody ridiculous...I liked the Day After Tomorrow but I wished I had just stayed home and watched that movie again...this was just like "part 2" but with worse actors and more preposterous scenarios...best scenes are in the trailer

At the screening, there was a group of tweens going on and on about how this was all really going to happen. I could only sigh and think to myself "how a civilization can predict the end of the world in 2012, but fail to see the end of their own civilization in the mid 900s" it's laughable. I weep for the future. 2 stars.

Great special effects, but some corny acting moments. Very similar to the Day After Tomorrow. Overall good movie, but too much hype, leading to lineups (sellouts) at the theatre.

This was one of the best disaster movies of all time, special effect were awsome but the acting wasn't the best, i recommend you watch it you wont be dissapointed. S.K

My wife and I absolutely enjoyed this movie. The special effects were great, the acting was fine and the story and sub-plots were good too. As for the negative comments here, it is not a documentary but rather a Hollywood movie that is meant to entertain. The 2.5 hours just flew by.

Very realistic movie,that's why some people do not like it. They afraid of what can possibly happen in the future. It is true there is going too much Hooliwood stuff, but the movie is very well done. Just go and see it.The movie contains a very important massage to us.

While it was likely taken a little more seriously by those of us who are aware of (1) what is now happening to Chandler's wobble (earth's wobble), (2) the most interesting (and somewhat scary) things that are happening to today's sun spots, (3) much scientific talk about the poles shifting, (4) the unusual alignment of planets at that time, (5) biblical statements about end times being extremely terrifying, (6) the Mayan calendar,etc. I still found it a bit amusing. First of all, they threw in a few puns which made it kind of funny in some spots. What do you want!!!!!.....looking for social commentary? Not happening here. Indepth personal relationships? Nope. So just sit back and enjoy one helluva rollercoaster ride based on an apocolyptic legend with a script and cast that moves it along without getting too bogged down in credibility. ....and yes, it was a typical hollywood epic disaster flick but.....nobody does it better. And if you're looking for a Fellini/Bergman resurgeance...move along, please.

Great special effects, but the story line sucked!!! It was pretty sappy! The only families I truly respected was the Tibetan, Indian, and the black family!! I hated the music in this movie... it was sooo American and full of patriotism. Like I said early on, the only good thing was the special effects.

A total bore. It's like every disaster movie before it and yes the main story line is ridiculous. There's a line about luck and for this doting family to survive what they did is all about luck. Hollywood luck that is. Skip it.

Possibly one of the worst movies of the year. Terrible acting, absolutely unrealistic in every way imaginable, and god did I mention the terrible acting! Sooo much bad \ terrible drama. Really annoying characters. Movie could've been maybe 40 mins long instead of bloody 2h 30min. Decent CGI. Avoid like the plague! I want my time and money back!

It's a good special effect movie, the cgi was doing well which made me say wow! But the story line was weak, many things were exaggerated.
