Too bad there is not a negative rating for this confusing dribble. Best part was the credits: to see all the different faces worn by the actors......for that, I give this one star.
Great Film, really enjoyed it. Not the usual holywood drivel. Thought provoking and interesting.
MARVELOUS!!! You have to see this movie!!!
The first 10 minutes left me cold. I walked and got my money back. Pure well acted?!... garbage
I know exactly what you mean that it's drivel. I also agree about these so called intellectuals who praise it's "high brow" quality. Well said!
Some rave about the intellectuality supremacy of this movie and the intellectuals who "GET IT." We'll, gimme a break will ya, this movie is drivel. The folks who se that are the true intellectuals.
Hanks hasn't been this good since LARRY CROWNE!
Its a really well done movie, I know most will complain that they don't get it, but just watch it again, its worth it, the message it sends makes it worth watching a second time.
How lazy is Hollywood getting? Really, how lazy is the audience getting. I loved this film because it was expecting me to be following along. It doesn't treat me like I'm an idiot. It still tells a story, a story about how people will meet again in different lives after they die. It was fantastic. Great acting, makeup, directing, and visuals.
Well written, acted and directed. Must keep a open mind with all the jumping around in time and actors in multi roles. But i enjoyed it.
This was just plain horrible. Hollywood has lost the ability to tell a story. They ask us to stretch our minds and piece together this disjointed movie. How lazy are they getting? Crap is crap and they should be ashamed.
5/5 . Will make your brain sweat at first ; then it will all come together. This movie has so many themes, plots and "social commentaries" that it will take time to process AFTER the movie. Do not miss 1 minute ; and it will all make sense. It is a grand statement and then some. May take 2 or more viewings for it all to make sense. If you liked "Inception" ; then this movie is for you.
This is amazing movie!! It may not be everyones cup of tea because it is not for every one to understand and based of few bad reviews i have seen here it is clearly the case. The movie does come together, all plots end beautifully.
Trying to follow 5+ story lines, showing 2 minutes at a time per story line was confusing. I didn't understand most of the movie. Good cast, good special effects, but just didn't come together
hmmm... 3 stereotypic ugly variations of 'yellow face' (whites portraying east asian males)... [see official site (diamond faces background swf)] and never allow a good looking east asian male to portray itself , except only females allowed to do so? uh-huh... uh-uh (NOT!!!). meanwhile, all others, B&W are allowed... making it very ethnically un-color positive. sad mindset of hollywood persists. ouch... what a slap in the face of those who are American born with east asian roots.
Excellent movie... Great acting, visual and plot....It requires certain understanding of reincarnation & Buddhism. Love it!!!!!
Wish this movie made sense .. big cast and you think its going to have all your questions answered at the end leaves you with nothing.
high concept, big production, great cast, very original. left me wanting at the end. the first 1/2hr of the movie takes concentration as the stories inter-cut frequently but you quickly get used to it. i really wanted to like this movie more but for me the ending was unsatisfying after the investment of almost 3hrs focus.
Wait, wait, wait, for the whole thing to come together. Three hours later and nada!! Good acting, great cinematography and no plot!
Visually stunning. If you wanna use your brain at the movies, go see this movie. I have never seen anything like it and how many times can you say that for a movie made in Hollywood.
Let me say that I have started the audiobook 3 times and have given up after an hour each time. This is such a difficult story to follow on audio and in the theatre. However, the soundtrack is great, the photography beautiful and the acting superb. I haven't been touched by a movie in many years. There are six stories woven together in this film. Difficult to follow - yes but it all comes together at the end. Sadness, mirth, and boredom at times as you try to follow the stories. We'are going back to see it again today and I hope it has the same effect on my heart.
WTF was that?
The worst film I have ever seen in my life. So painful. I even fell asleep. Please avoid the pain and stay away from - Cloud Atlas. Hard to believe the creators of the Matrix trilogy came up with this horrible film. The worst 3 films of all time for me are 1) Cloud Atlas; 2) Cowboys and Aliens; 3) The Making of an American Quilt. The 3 memorable parts to this film. 1) The soundtrack; 2) one memorable line: "The ocean is a multitude of drops."; 3) The make up. It was so good, when you bury this film, the mortician won't need to use it! I regret that I spent 1000 Scene points for this tripe. I also regret the horrible use and waste of time, of hours of the day I will never ever get back
This movie is largely based on the buddhist premise that everything is interconnected which goes beyond past, present and future. If you appreciate this premise and believe in karma you will likely appreciate this movie. I personally enjoyed the premise and the movie. It's fun noticing the different characters the same actor's play. Its the type of movie you have to pay attention to. To me this movie has everything an interesting story line, humour, action, drama, special effects and a deep understanding of reality. I liked it!
These first two reviews were sent even before the movie was out. Hollywood hype in action. See the movie for yourself and then comment.
beautiful visuals, naration at its best , fantastic acting, epic movie
beautiful trailer and gave me goose bumps for it speaks of how truly connected we all are...karma,past lives and the lessons we try to learn in this life time and from previous and we keep coming back until we learn them all and balance our karma's...that is why our souls remember and our hearts for the truth lays where it is purest within us in our heart center..love and light to all no matter what path one walks for we are all connected within and out. claire
