Coles notes version of the book: take the main plot, erase all unnecessary characters (including one of my favourite) and tag the rest onto the main storyline. It was rushed and underdeveloped. I spoke to a friend who saw the movie without reading the book and he didn`t even realize there were elves and dwarves in it. Very very disappointing. Only good for adding visual representation to characters.

This Movie was amazing. 5/5 for sure. The ending was so good and perfect. The actors in this movie were great. The dargon looked so cool. This movie is a for sure. Go watch it. If you didn`t read the book you still would understand what the movie is about. i can`t wait for the next one. from the biggest alex rider fan, Hamony!

i think eragon was so awsome and incredibly cool. all of the effects were great and the storyline as well was great. I think anyone that likes harry potter would probably like eragon or if you`re interested in mythical creatures this is tyhe movie for you.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Disappointing" would be the word I`d use to describe this movie. The book was a serious, tense contest of good vs evil. However this movie, although it started out well, quickly lost some of the urgency and that sense of foreboding that the book had. I felt that Eragon`s character was really naive, and had an immature quality that the book didn`t have. The ending had the two worst qualities for a movie; boring and unbelievable. I kept looking at my watch. 2 Stars R.A.N.

i didn`t even read the book and already i thought the whole story seem like it was rushed through and it was sooo confusing... and the acting was sOOO OVER RATED! if i knew the production was going to turn out this way... i would have just stayed home doing nothing ... it would have been more enjoyable lets just say that much...

Enjoyed the movie...never read the book. Its just like "Dragon Heart." The story line seemed to move at a fast pace - - didnt like that. Otherwise I would say its ok...

Mmmmmm, my favorite part of that movie was seeing Garret Hedlund waving a sword about, lol. Too bad there wasn`t more with him, seeing as he`s so tasty. ;)

Eragon was not nearly as good as the book. I`ve seen movies where they have cut alot from the book, but this was just ridiculous. I could point out through the whole entire movie which parts were skipped. I could see people who haven`t read the book, liking this film because they don`t have a clue what`s even missing. The actors didn`t do a very good job, even a few legendary actors such as Jeremy Irons didn`t do very well. I thought the effects were really well done though. Saphira looked amazing. The script was terrible and Eragon and Arya were both supposed to have black hair but instead they made them both blonde. I think the characters n

I expected cuts from the book and thought they did quite well with the limitation of time and money. My biggest disappointment was that Arya looked like a human rather than an Elf. This was unexpected and doesn`t make sense.

The book was excellent but the movie is such a disappointment - no character development and huge pieces from the book were either changed completely or left out. This is understandable to some extent - but when the changes are so extensive, the movie just doesn`t work. The plot of the book was beautifully developed but the movie was shallow and underdeveloped. The director did not use the talents of the actors. I think the screenwriter might have read the dustjacket but not the book.

I hope when the DVD release comes out it is similar to the LOTR DVD collections. In other words expanded. I really hope they cut a lot from the original film. That is the only way I would buy thr DVD. I was dissappointed. Major plot points from the book were either rushed or just left out. I understand time constraints. Unlike the LOTR mivies(which I think could have been better if they were shortened) Eragon needed to be about 30 mins longer. A journey that took monts in the book appeared less than a few days in the movie(I can`t even call it a film). Maybe I was expecting too much. This would be a good starting point into the genre. This film was very good. The plot is a tried and true formula (farm boy, cf. Luke Skywalker, older guide, cf. Obi Wan, &c.) done in a fantasy context. Good acting altogether.

I loved the books so far (still waiting on the third!!!) and I also really enjoyed the movie. Not because they were anything alike but individually they are both good! While it is true that there is very little resemblance (based loosely on the book Eragon) to the books, a great deal was cut out and the remainder changed to fill in those spaces, if you look at it as something separate from them it`s still a very good movie that I enjoyed very much

It’s not as bad as everyone says it is. I thought it was good! Of course the book was better, they always are! I stilled liked how they did the change from story to movie. Yes a lot of things were left out from the book but some of that did not affect the story line at all. Although I would have liked to see some of the left out parts put in to help people who did not read the story understand it more. You only have so much room to fit in what is needed and to keep the attention span of younger audiences. I think everyone was expecting a big budget film like LOTR and it isn’t. Which is ok! LOTR set the bar for fantasy movies. Not every movie

omg the book was waaayyyyyyy betta. sloan was nice to eragon and arya was conscience and saphira almost died and durza had a dragon and murtagh wasnt important and brom set garrow on fire and the twins werent even there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAT UP??????????the book was the total opposite and waaaayyyyyy better!the guy playing eragon said the lines wrong and he wasnt at all like erAGON.the book eragon would never figure out that brom was a rider !!!!!! .but he was kinda cute i guess.anyway thats wat i think g2g PEACE

Yeah, this movie was kind of bad. I mean, it wasn`t walk-out-of-the-theatre horrible or even horribly boring, just extremely lack-lustre and kind of `meh`. The people who made the movie basically cut out as much plot as they possibly could and still have a movie left to film. I mean, it`s one thing to cut out bits in order to fit a large novel into a short film, but it doesn`t turn out when you cut out almost all character development and anything that might actually make you care about the characters or what they`re doing. I LOVED this movie! My favorite character is Arya... She`s awsome! I am SO buying this DVD when it comes out!!!!!! I REALLY recommend it!

it was an OK movie. the acting was not so good by the main character (the boy) i watched the movie yesterday and it was totally not a waist of time. i would`ve preffered to watch Persuit of Happyness, but i was not in the mood for a sad movie. i would rate it 6/10

I am one of the many fans who read Eragon and I was greatly anticipating the release of the movie version. I was not disapointed as it was very entertaining, and, lets face it the leading men characters (excluding Durza of course)were heartthrobs. However, the book and the movie do differ from point to point and you will hear others who read the book whispering, "That didn`t happen", or "It was supposed to happen like this..." Overall I loved the movie and would encourage others to go see it. I can`t wait until it comes out on DVD. I also hope that there is going to be a movie per book!!! - Victoria

I have read the first two instalments of the Inheritance Trilogy along with my 10 year old daughter. The books are wonderful. The movie, though, lacks the magic of the books. I know it`s hard to translate a book into a movie. This movie tried to portray the important scenes from the book but unfortunately lost the emotion along the way. My 10 year old liked it though and that`s the important thing.

Not a bad interpretation of the book. For you diehard Eragon followers some scenes will disappoint. Good special FX and story line is mainly there. Looking forward to the next chapter.

I thought this movie was quite well done! I went with my friends not knowing what it was about and not having seen a single add for it. It kept me entertained and although one of my friends said, "It was too sappy" - I thought the "sap" added to my connection to the characters. Who doesn`t love the idea of having a dragon as a pet and it being loyal to you and ONLY you!!

the book offered such a wonderful opportunity for a spectacular movie- instead, it fell very short of our expectations. It was chopped up, hammed up and made up. Read the book and forget the movie.

This movie was bad, it was a discrace towards Christopher Paolini and his work on the book. The acting was great but some of the casting was terrible,Joss Stone played Angela(which was a bad decision) some characters were not even in the movie characters from Eragons village, major dwarf characters,Broms friend was not in it and others characters,some characters where in at the wrong time and some had hardly any time at all on the screen, the set design was all wrong and Galbatorix was in almost the whole movie. Dont go see this movie, rent it when it comes out on DVD/VHS, and if you have seen this movie go tell your friends that are fans of

Entertained by the movie but disappointed . Books are always the best source for the creative mind. A great movie should follow a great book and this didn`t happen in this case.

i would like to say for one i have read the book and it sucks they had to cut so much out in the movie, because if u read the second book, you will know they will have to do alot more to make secns. but over all its an really good moive i would go and watch it again.
