It`s an amazingly good love story! I went to see it and I didn`t think it would be all that good... but it was! Go see it today!

oh just a wonderful movie I`m goin to see it for the third time in 2 weeks. Beautifully done and each character is charming in their own kind of way.Don`t miss it.

Very good movie. I have watched 4 times. I love both this movie and the BBC one. Mathew MacFadyan is as attractive as Colin Firth. I love them both. It makes one feels that there may really be such kind of man existing in the real world. Love to have the DVD (the English version). Carolyn C

Keira Knightley might be attractive, but she can`t act! Unfortunately, it`s another disappointed re-make of an Austen novel. The film shows too much and denies character/audience speculation that would make the film more provocative.

Keira Knightley is HAWT

User review rating: 0 December 11, 2005

Absolutely wonderful! This film could make you fall in love.

User review rating: 0 December 10, 2005

I was also skeptical but the movie is true to the book. The BBC mini-series was 10 years ago, and let`s face it, Colin Firth (45) is getting a bit long in the tooth. Matthew Macfadyen (30) had me drooling BUCKETS for Mr. Darcy... He portrays him a little more aimiably and feelingly than Firth did. Elizabeth and Darcy needed to kiss in the field (when they finally came together), though, and not at the dead end of the movie. A miniscule flaw, IMHO... I really want to see this again!!!

The Cliffnote version on a classic book.

User review rating: 0 December 09, 2005

With the BBC`s 1995 miniseries starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle still regarded as the definitive treatment of the book, it will be an uphill struggle to win audiences to what is neither a faithful rendition nor a very interesting new interpretation."

Can`t believe how good Matthew Macfadyen was as Darcy. It was easier to understand how Lizzie starts to fall in love with him in this one than in the BBC one. I loved that version, and loved Colin Firth as Darcy and didn`t think anyone could play the part as well, but MM did. He was different, but just as good, he brought more emotion to the part, I actually understood how Lizzie could fall for him, he was totally ripping my heart apart with his sad eyes.

HORRIBLE!!!! The acting was awful (except Keira KNightly and Judy Dench) but the actor playing Darcy cannot act....

Absolutely beautiful

The A&E (BBC) mini-series is and shall remain the last word on this book!

User review rating: 0 December 07, 2005

The original BBC version was way better.

User review rating: 0 December 07, 2005

I loved this version! There was more emotion between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth compared to the BBC version. The actor who played this Mr. Darcy made his character a lot warmer than Colin Firth`s Mr. Darcy. I love this story anyways. Can`t wait for this movie version to come out on DVD!

I thought the acting superb. The film drew you in at the start and wouldn`t let you go until the end. I was left wanting more, more, more. Matthew Macfadyen was an excellent Mr. Darcy. You could feel his emotional attachment to Lizzy grow as the film progressed. Kiera Knightly was a delightful Lizzy.

Beautifully made. I have read the book many times and I will never tire of seeing the different versions of it. Both Keira and Matthew are wonderful. A must see!!

It was amazing. At the end when he says Mrs.Darcy and kisses her and repeats, its was so beatiful!

Absolutely wonderful movie!

It was wonderful!!! One of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I give it 5 stars!!

User review rating: 0 December 03, 2005

A perfect little romance, save Donald Sutherland`s forced boo-hoo.

User review rating: 0 December 03, 2005

Come Oscar time this film will be seeing nominations for adapted screenplay, cinematography and supporting actress for Brenda Blethyn......perhaps more?

User review rating: 0 December 03, 2005

This is and always will be a favourite movie of mine as well as novel. I was highly impressed with how the actors stayed true to the characters in the book and I felt so much for each of them. Overall, a five star Oscar worthy film!!

Almost perfect!

User review rating: 0 December 01, 2005

It put to film the stuff of dreams. The cinematography, the music, the mystery and passion of love, all without the coarseness so common in movies today.

User review rating: 0 November 30, 2005

It was really great. I thought it`d be horrible compared the the mini series, but it was pretty well done. The scenery was beautiful! Keira Knightly did really well and I loved the new cast!!

User review rating: 0 November 28, 2005

Sublime, simply sublime.

User review rating: 0 November 27, 2005

It was pretty close to the book, so no complaints from me. I love Kiera`s portrayal of Lizzie. I could really relate to her, and I felt the same way about Lizzie in the book. Donald Sutherland did an excellent job as Mr. Bennett. I wanted to smack Jena Malone, but then it shows she was true to Lydia. I also liked the fact that the cinematography was all pink with roses, pearls, and lace. Not that I`m complaining about other versions, but this was so true to life, not fussed up. you could easier believe those girls NEEDED to get married or face real hardship. Loved it.

User review rating: 0 November 27, 2005

Absolutely the most romantic and passionate film I have ever seen! The vibrant characters and the realistic settings enhance the fiery passion between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth in such a way that no film or television adaptation has ever been able to. I can`t wait to see this film again!

User review rating: 0 November 26, 2005

Why make it again? BBC did a brillient version already.

User review rating: 0 November 25, 2005

darcy is hot

User review rating: 0 November 24, 2005

Brilliant. Related to the book really well. A very innocent love movie. Looking forward to see it again.

User review rating: 0 November 24, 2005

I was hesitant to see this movie at first. I wondered why this had to be filmed yet again. Then I was totally won over by the lushness of the scenery, the spot-on characterizations and the skillful direction. It really helped that I didn`t know the actor playing Mr. Darcy. I felt I was getting to know him as the film progressed. From start to finish, this is the best version of "Pride and Prejudice" I have ever seen.

User review rating: 0 November 23, 2005

After the A&E (BBC) mini-series this version is like remaking “Casablanca” or “Gone with the Wind”: simply useless and inferior. The mood of the movie was all wrong; it looked more like “The Weathering Heights” than “Pride and Prejudice”. Matthew Macfadyn is bad imitation of Mr. Darcy which was played to the tee by Colin Firth. And, Kira Knightly seemed too precocious to be Elizabeth Bennet (Read the book and you`ll know what I mean). The A&E (BBC) mini-series is and shall remain the last word on this book!

User review rating: 0 November 19, 2005

Absolutely fabulous. I have seen the Greer Garson/ Lawrence Olivier version as well as the BBC miniseries and Keira Knightley is by far the best Elizabeth. Brenda Blethyn does an excellent job of balancing Mrs. Bennet`s penchant for hysteria with her tendency for indiscretion. She isn`t as over the top as the characterization in the BBC series. Matthew McFadyen does a great job of playing Mr. Darcy. I particularly like those moments when he is less dower and smiles. The scene where they meet on the moors in the early morning was very powerful. I look forward to seeing it again. I highly recommend this version.

BRIDE AND PREJUDICE with Aishwarya Rai is WAYYY better!!

User review rating: 0 November 19, 2005

It evokes a myriad emotions of love.

User review rating: 0 November 19, 2005

LOVED IT!! Beautiful.

User review rating: 0 November 18, 2005

If you think this is the worst adaptation ever then you obviously missed last year`s "Bride and Prejudice." This adaptation is VERY good when you put aside feelings for the mini-series (which obviously will never be topped). Mr. Darcy was very sexy ;)

User review rating: 0 November 17, 2005

This was the worst adaptation of Austen`s novel ever. The acting was way too overdone and trite (with the exception of Donald Sutherland as Mr. Bennet and the actress who played his wife). The directing seemed exceptionally cheesy and melodramatic, which made the entire movie laughable. The original BBC version with Colin Firth was so much better. Although this version did have all the important scenes from the novel, the connecting plot line was disregarded, making it seem choppy and superficial. I don`t know what everyone else is thinking.

User review rating: 0 November 17, 2005

It was GREAT! At first I didn`t know how they would scale a 500 page book, or an 8-hour miniseries into two hours, but they did, and they didn`t lose anything. Fantastic job!

User review rating: 0 November 17, 2005

Done very well.
