pretty disappointing, if you think your life sucks, you'll feel better after watching the characters in this movie.

This is a movie about sad, disappointed smart people stumbling through life. Their sharp intellects in the face of mediocrity spawn great comedy.

I know a lot of people don't like him, but Sarah Jessica Parker is incredible in this movie.

#1 smart people were not smart. Characters were boring except for the stepbrother and his comic relief.

I must say I have to a gree with many of the comments already posted. The Quaid character is thoroughly unlikeable although he does redeem himself by the end, but it does make you wonder why the Sarah Parker character sticks with him. I felt she had a nice part here, but the real winner of the movie is Thomas Hayden Church whose character essentially has the only insight in the move. The smart people ain't so smart. I wouldn't waste money, however it won't be a bad rental in the future.

WORST MOVIE EVER!!!

User review rating: 0 April 15, 2008

This movie thinks a lot of itself. It thinks its intelligent, engaging and well acted. The film is almost as arrogant as its oh-so-smart characters. That’s why Smart People gets solid C from this reviewer. It is bland, oh-so bland. You’d think with a cast that has a history of successful turns in comedy, you’d find a spark to carry the movie. But no, Dennis Quaid is his always brutal self, Sarah Jessica Parker is forgettable, and Ellen Page doesn’t command attention like the prego Juno did character. The only good thing Smart People has going for it is Thomas Hayden Church. He’s funny and entertaining as Quaid’s deadbeat adopted brother. But of course he’s neglected and doesn’t appear on scr

Smart people will not spend money and time to see this terribly disappointing movie. Good stars wasted in flat screenplay that goes nowhere. And, here's a question for the film-maker: do they really think any woman would be romantically interested in a rude, unkempt, self-absorbed jerk as played by the lead actor? Yuk!!

Ellen Page was fantastic, yet again. Cute movie to see at an early matinee!
