Martin Scorsese once again shows why he is the best director out there bar none. The guy is a god of directing, no one comes close to him. He should have won alot of oscars by now, but keeps getting screwed over. This movie should give him what is right fully his. It is a exellent movie, Leonardo was great along with the rest of the cast. 5 out of 5 for me.

almost excellent movie. The movie focuses more on what Howard Hughes did and less on who he was. The director probably hoped that by telling the story that way, the acts would define the man. However, that did not work out. And so, the ending was very unsatisfying, almost like the movie ended prematurely. And if, like me, you care about a good ending, than you would be very unhappy after seeing this movie. It is almost like someone turned off the tv while you were watching a great movie and somehow you never get to see the ending. Bummer!!!

I guess my question is, who really care what others thought of the movie ... take a chance in life go see it buy your date a nice dinner after ... beats the heck out of tube in Feb ... get out and live

SUPERB, but a basic knowledge of Hughes, the era and Obsessive Compulsive illness could help enlighten the nay sayers assuming they have the intellect!! Leo has really grown as an actor, Cate Blanchett is awesome and it is all brought together nicely by Scorsese who took a very complicated early life of a very complicated man and took away some of the mystery and showed him as a real person. I hope for big wins at Oscar, it is well deserved!!!

I found Howard Hughes` mental illnes fascinating and wanted to know more about his later life. It did spend too much time on his early life and planes. I know he made huge advances in aviation, but he went on to do much more and I wish the film would have touched on that. Leonardo was great and he will continue to develop as and actor with roles like these. Cate Blanchette blew me away as Hepburn. She is a very good actress - I never forgot her performance in Elizabeth. Also enjoyed Alda and Baldwin.

Watch the A&E biography instead. It will save you 2 and a half hours and it`s alot more interesting. I had to leave after 2 and a half hours. As did many people. This is a critical darling? They sure are not on the same level as the viewing public.

Great movie, but felt left hanging in the end. Would have liked a finish to the story about how he con`t to live his life and how he died. But otherwise loved the movie!

I didn`t know much about Howard Hughes until I saw this movie and man did this movie ever portrayed him in such a way that he could have fictional just as easily. An amazing story about an amazing man. Well acted and classy, I would not hesitate to see this movie again.

This movie is excellent...its close to 3 hours and its good every minute! I hardly knew it was that long. Leo has really come into his own and established himself as an actor and not just a teen heartthrob. needless to say Kate Beckinsale is beyond gorgeous. this movie was incredible! worth every penny and then some

This movie was great! I loved it. I didn`t know too much about Howard Hughes so it was very interesting to get a glimpse into his life and his accomplishments! Loved Leonardo Dicaprio. He was perfect in this role! I totally recommend this movie. It was captivating.

The crash scene was spectacular! (where Howard hits the houses and gets burned). A very interesting glimpse of history...reminds me of A Beautiful Mind. Well worth seeing for any aviation or history buff.

Best movie I have seen in a long time. Never use to like DiCaprio, but he is amazing as Howard. Well done, flying sequences incredible. Nostalgia great. Makes you feel sorry for a millionnaire.

Wow three hours of my life wasted. I could have shot myself many times in that amout of time and it would still have been less of a waste of time. My vote: the WORST movie of all time.

absolutely outstanding movie. a great time capsule view of the times. Lavish, great cinematography and Di Capprio (who I`m not really a big fan of) was outstanding in the role. Cate Blanchette as Kate Hepburn stole the show. Could of taken 30 minutes out however.

"The Aviator" is the best movie I have seen in a long time- a movie that really lives up to the hype so long as you are really capable of appreciating a movie of its kind and genre. those who hav complained about this movie should hav never gone to see it in the first place. they are the type that never stood a chance of being able to appreciate and enjoy a movie like this. this movie is [sadly] not necessarily for everyone. for those with the patience and apptitude to truly appreciate an epic of this sort, "The Aviator" is a masterpiece. superb performances all around from an tremendous cast, especially the lead performance from Dicappr

Great Movie...If you had trouble following the movie or thought it was boring, maybe you have just seen to many "terminator" flicks. It would be nice to have more movies like this...a story, a hero(although flawed), a romance...not just guns, and over the top stunts with no story.

Gave it 2 stars only. Too long, not always accurate. First half confusing, second half a bit better. Are we to believe he came out of the crazies and then cut the Senator to pieces in the manner portrayed in the movie. I think these 2 incidents are reversed - are they not - as he ended up a paranoid, unkept recluse. Ending just dropped off???

I enjoyed the movie but upon reviewing the history after the fact there were things missing. Howard was married before he met Hepburn and it was never mentioned -- the history names it an "affair" my take was it was a full live-in relationship so was a bit confused as to what else was fact and what was fiction. I thought Leo did a great job and I enjoyed the acting. It was a little slow but portrayed Hughes very well. The ending suited it because, well he dropped off the face of the earth didn`t he?

This movie is a masterpiece. I was not planning to see this movie because I thought it would be an ego-type movie figuring DiCaprio as the ‘hero’. Nevertheless, I was on a date and wanted to kill time, so I suggested going the movie theater. The movie Aviator was the only movie playing, unless we waited two more hours. To my surprise, this movie is awesome and the acting is impeccable. This has been the best movie I have seen in a long time. I enjoyed it so much that I will go see it again.

Over-rated, over-bloated. Leo doesn`t even remotely resemble Howard Hughes and the film is WAY TOO long. Wait for the DVD if you have to see this film.

Remarkable movie! I was surprised to find myself totally engrossed in the story for the entire duration -- all the way through the credits!
