I have never been so drawn into a movie. I felt like I left the theater and enter their world.

User review rating: 0 February 18, 2005

Absolutely brilliant. Gerard Butler is magnificent as the Phantom. He plays the part with such emotion that I could feel everything the Phantom felt, his love, despair, anger and sorrow. Wonderful !! There will never be another Phantom after Gerard, no-one could ever be that good.

I just saw recently the Phantom for the 6th time since its release. Oh my God! I couldn`t believe I was so touched and moved by a movie which I have seen 6 times in less than a month and a half. I was so emotional I also couldn`t help sobbing. This movie is definitely one of the best musicals ever been made. Everything from the actors to set designs, costumes, cinematography, was top-notch. I couldn`t think of a better cast than this. Such a tragic romantic sexy seductive Phantom movie, my heartfelt thanks to Joel the director and Andrew for their huge contributions; and to Gerard, Emmy, Patrick and Minni for making it a forever memora

A visual and musical masterpeice. As soon as that organ starts and the chandelier begins to rise, you will be in awe. The film has got to be one of the greatest musicals ever put on the screen. It truly is a breathtaking experience and now I know why my friends have seen it multiple times. A surreal and spellbinding exursion to a place where beauty and music reign supreme.

I saw the stage version and fell in love with it. I was quite skeptical when the movie was released, not expecting to like it. I loved it! There is much more detail in the movie since you are limited in stage productions. I highly recommend this movie!

I saw it for the first time last night and had to return this afternoon. I couldn`t believe how sexy the Phantom was and his chemistry w/ both his co-stars was amazing. I was disappointed w/ the "continuity" people though, for when his mask is removed, his ear is suddenly disfigured...yet throughout the movie, both his ears had been normal. Forgive me...but after working for many years in broadcasting...I tend to pick up on these things. Loved the movie, though...found it far superior to the stage version.

I think that `The Phantom of the Opera` is amazing in every form. I have read the book, and I have seen the silent film, musical, and motion picture, and each one simply took my breath away. `The Phantom` is a classic tale that will hopefully last forever.

Have not sseen anything like this since West Side Story. A work of art with electric magic between Cristine and the phantom. Beautifully filmed gorgeous sets and costumes and the music better than ever. This is one of those that you can go back and see over and over and over again.

After seeing the stage production, I came into it with reservations...from the opening scene to the end it had me in it`s grip. Excellent production. Music was beautifully done and performance was top notch. Amazing costumes and settings. Loved it! Terrific transition to film...Look forward to seeing it again.

The Phantom was an excellent movie. From the very beginning to the very end, I soaked it all in. It was breathtaking. I felt emotionally spent after several of the scenes, mainly when the phantom was singing to Christine. Very sensual and hypnotic. A film every woman should see.

what can I say! WOW... the most beautiful powerful movie I`ve ever seen. the music is so amazing. I loved Gerard Butlers acting. his voice was so beautiful. if i was christine i would take him in the end of the film. i have never cried so much as i did in this film, and i still cry when i hear the music or actiully see the film! and when i saw it the first time i just cept smiling. i just can`t wait until the movies comes out on DVD!! thank you so much for doing this film...

I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. I CRIED WHEN I READ THE NOVEL AND WAS ABSOLUTELY CAPTIVATED WHEN I SAW THE PLAY. THE MOVIE DID NOT DISAPPOINT. GERARD BUTLER MAY NOT BE THE BEST SINGER WHO HAS PORTRAYED THE PHANTOM, BUT I THINK HE IS THE BEST ACTOR. I COULD FEEL HIS ANGER, HIS DISAPPOINTMENT AND HIS PAIN. CHRISTINE MAY HAVE LOVED RAOUL, BUT WHAT SHE SHARED WITH THE PHANTOM WENT MUCH DEEPER. THE GREATEST LOVE STORY EVER!

When the music started, I just sat there with shivers running through me. I`ve had the sheet music (I play keyboards) and several different recordings of this "opera" for many years. But I was never able to scrape together the bucks to see it live. Having the opportunity to now see this screen version, I am enthralled, and I will try to get to see it at least once more before it goes to DVD. You can be sure, I`ll have the DVD for it when that comes out. This was a treat of a lifetime!!!

User review rating: 0 February 10, 2005

As a fan of the musical I didn`t think the movie could live up to the live perfomance, but I really enjoyed it and going to see it again!

User review rating: 0 February 10, 2005

I have seen the play once and the movie four times. I thought Gerard Butler and Emmie Rossun were absolutely fabulous. The music is spellbinding and I loved the movie.

I loved it! I have always liked the story and music--I`ve seen the stage version a few times, both in the USA and in London. So I was really looking forward to the movie. It did not disappoint. I thought the 3 leads ( the Phantom, Christine, and Raoul ) were even better than the original London cast members. Gerard Butler was a very powerful and sensuous Phantom and Patrick Wilson was a worthy rival for Christine. I was totally impressed by Emmy Rossum----her beauty, acting skills and marvelous voice----how could one person be blessed with so much! I will buy the DVD!!!!

I had no expectations of this movie when I went the first time. I had not heard of the screenplay and even if I had I dont usually like opera. But I must admit this was a awesome movie. I have never felt this way about a movie in a very long time. I have now seen it 7 times and am amazed I like it as well as I did the first. The music is haunting. There is no other word for it. Absolutely beautiful.

I thought it was terrific. It strayed very little from the stage version.I saw it with my daughter on opening night and we are going to see it again tonight closing night. Beautiful......

User review rating: 0 February 10, 2005

I have never seen the live play but after seeing this movie I cant wait to go the next time its performed...this movie was incredible! the music was exquisite...the list goes on, I cant put into words how powerful this movie is.

We saw POTO movie today for the first time and plan to see it many more times. It is different enough from the stage play to keep me alert to the changes, while filling in many of the blank spaces the theater version didn`t let us know about, plus the sound system in the movie theater was much better than any of the 4 stage plays I have seen. The greatest music EVER!!! I think it is or will be my favourite movie of all time- Sonny

The acting was terrible. The Phantom is supposed to evoke pity, not loathing. I felt nothing for any of the other characters who were one dimensional and bland. See the original black and white film for an enjoyable plot and acting. I wanted to really like the film as the musical was great but I could not delude myself.

User review rating: 0 February 09, 2005

I thought that the music and drama was awesome. the whole movie I was clinging to my dad!

User review rating: 0 February 09, 2005

This is the most brilliant, sensuous and beautifully haunting movie I have ever seen! I thought "Moulin Rouge" was awesome, but this movie tops it by far. Gerard Butler is just one of the finest and most handsome upcoming actors in the business. Emmy Rossum sings like an angel and is an amazing actress. High praise also to Minnie Driver(so funny) and Patrick Wilson(handsome). I was really upset this movie got no Oscar nods for the top awards.

Wonderful! Ive seen the play several times and was worried the film would not live up to the quality of performance but it was Excellent!! Ive seen the movie twice already and will see it again! HIGHLY Recommended!!

Absoloutley amazing! My new favorite movie. All the stars were amazing. It was always my favorite play but I love the movie so much more. The voices of all the actors were amazing. I`m definitley preordering the movie! And did I mention the guys, Gerard (Phantom) and Patrick (Raul) are hot!!!

I don`t know you could not be taken into this movie and live the story! The beautiful music, the cast did such a wonderful job. Having seen the stage production several times it was amazing to see it in movie form. this will be a movie I will see again and again!

My name is marta i am from portugal and all i want to say is that i have seen the phantom of the opera for three times now,and i simply love it.i am not going to comment technical aspects like the performance of the actors( which i thought it was brilliant) because my knoledge regarding that is samall, this is just the opiniam of a cinema lover.

I absolutely LOVED-LOVED this movie. Gerard Butler was so dark, so tormented and sooooo sensually menacing. I couldn`t take my eyes off of him. He played the part of the phantom to perfection. As the viewer you felt the passion, the yearning he had for Christine. The desperation that he would do anything to have her. Gerard Butler stole the show! I loved the way Christine evolved within the phantom`s presence. There was a sensual awakening in her eyes. A fire that threatens her peace of mind. You felt her struggle. Should she stay with a "safe" lover (Raoul) or should she surrender to the phantom who wants all of her mind, heart an

Phantom = new sex icon of musicals

User review rating: 0 February 06, 2005

I thought it was the most passionate movie I`ve ever seen. And, the closest to the original broadway show I`ve ever seen. Gerard Butler is simply amazing! Wonderful, wonderful screenplay!

User review rating: 0 February 06, 2005

Absolutley wonderful! Wonderful transition from stage to film! We loved it all!

User review rating: 0 February 06, 2005

I have seen this movie already 4 times in theater and i would see it again! I even have my mom going out to purchase the soundtrack in order to hear the music whenever she wants and she hates opera! I especially enjoyed the acting done by Emmy Rossum she is a beautiful women and she had diffucult shoes to fill andin my opinion she did that and more, also Gerard Butler has a hauntingly beautiful voice which brought a soul and a face to those of us that haven`t been priviledged enough to see the play. Thank-you Emmy and Gerard and a huge thanks to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber never stop creating beautiful stories that even for 2 hours let us forget

I found this movie haunting. I seem to flash back now and then as the music goes through my mind. Seeing the play and now the movie, I must admit the movie gave me a more intimate feeling. Gerard Butler is a name I will not forget, because he gave life to the Phantom. On stage we can not see the love, and hate in the face of the actor, but in this movie, I found myself loving the Phantom because of the emotion shown by this actor. I will diffently get this movie when it`s available, and I will keep it with all my favorite films. Thank you for giving us back a musical on film, and making days gone by something to remember.

I only seen it once, but I`ve bben a fan since I ever heardthe song"The Phantom of the Opera" I was five years old. I think Gerard Butler really out-did himself this time. Even if his face was scared in the movie,he was still just as hot as before. i just saw the movie today 2-5-05 and my best friend and myself are in a compitition to see who can get the sound track, movie (on D.V.D)and the original published book first. I think that GERARD BUTLER is HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
