this movie was so good! WAY better then all those other stupid horror movies because there isn`t any mindless killing there`s a story behind it all which is not what you usually see when you go out to watch a horror movie. i loved it!

If you like movie who give you the punch 1 hour before the end it`s the movie for you. The preview were better than the movie..... waste of time!!!!

I believe those who are quick to judge the movie badly may not be as intelligent as those who liked it. There is a lot of symbolism and reference to human nature. It sounds like a lot of people are taking this at face value. I`m not one of those poety people that can make a 3 word sentence into a book but this movie definately has more than face value to it.

Good movie. Requires you to actually THINK. You got to remember everything that has happened thus far, and it still gives you reminders. I wouldn`t go see it again. The movie does contridict itsself(first time the "beast" came). Different ending though. Id rather it had continued a bit longer, you just assume the ending. There wasn`t really a climax, wasnt an edge of the seat thriller. I would had never figured it out, but all the clues were there in the end. Just had to put them together. Id recomend you see it if you like the confusing story line type things, if you want a horror movie, save your money, if you want to the point save your

The movie was very good. I thought it was one of the more interesting and thought provoking movies I`ve seen in a long time. I definitly advise other to see it.

MAny people have written that it takes a high level of education to fully enjoy and respect the movie , but the truth is that the movie terrible in a entertainment point of reference. In terms or symbolism, archetypes and alegory, a movie does not have to be terrible like this one to illustrate and commendeer a message....... DO NOT SEE IT

This movie was horrible. M. Night just lost some major cred. SO slow and SO boring. Not what I was expecting at all. Once the initial twist is made, the rest is so predictable. Plus the whole "olde englishe" dialouge is just flat out annoying.

I thought the village was a very well done movie. Great Twist at the end and Ron howards daughter was awsome and shes pretty hot.

I thought this movie was great. I loved the twist. Although it wasn`t what I was expecting I thoroughly enjoyed it, didn`t find it boring, and I would see it again. There were a couple of slow spots in the movie .... but what movie doesn`t??

I think the director sent a strong message indicating human behaviour and how stupid it can get. Most of my friends said it was the most terrible movie they ever seen, maybe it was because of the lack of blood and guts? I think it takes class, a decent level of education to enjoy and understand something like this.

I don`t understand these people that "figured it out 10 minutes it." It`s like the 6th Sense, anyone who claims they figured it out before is lying. This movie was GREAT - SO much symbolism in it. An intelligent person`s movie.

I think this was an awesome movie! Bryce Dallas Howard did a great job. I liked the story, it was really interesting. I would definetely see this movie again!

Just a bit of background info for those reading - I`m 28 yrs old, and I`m an avid moviegoer and critic. I thoroughly enjoyed The Village. The words out of my mouth at the end were "Wow...That was awesome." What I liked best about The Village was that it had an original storyline, and yah, M. Night Shyamalan took a big risk with the twist thing, but it was interesting. The script was a little bit contrived, but Lucius` speech to Ivy on the porch in the misty hours before dawn grabbed my very soul. I was expecting something more scary, but I was satisfied nonetheless. It`s a deeply emotional, thoughtful, stark and unconventional film. Go see it

The director`s work is usually excellent, and so I really wonder about this film. It is very anti-climactic. It would have been much better had the ending not been explained in such OBVIOUS ways. leave us with something to think about. create an ending in our own minds. everything was in black and white and quite frankly....it was boring. it wasn`t a thriller at all. it was more like a sci-fi drama.

the village was an excellent movie , not something that you plan on seeing when you start watching but by the end you get a sense of fullfillment. It deals alot with fear and human nature. A great discussion movie.

A bit dissappointing. The story drags on and then nothing really happens. Anti-Climatic is a word that comes to mind. However the cast is superb. Very good dramatic acting, but little to work with in regards to the story line.

this movie was by far the worst movie of the summer. i have never been more disappointed with not only the movie but the marketing of the movie. all of the trailers indicated it was a thriller - it isn`t. not even close. the script was weak, the twists were lame and came way too late for anyone in the audience to care. i laughed at the overdramatic dialogue and the only saving grace to this movie was the actors. i pity them for this terrible choice in their careers.

This was a great, intelligent, and sophisticated movie. It did all the required elements of a summer movie. Entertqain, intrique, and to be talked about. It fullfilled all of these requirements. Along with the acting, ending, cinemetography, and brilliantness, this was such a great movie. This movie is unquestionably one of the best movies he has made, and probably on of the most original, and well thought of movie ever. WOW Mr.S, your an incredible director. If this doesnt give you the Oscar for best director, what will? Keep making movies like this, because if you dont, who will? WHAT AN AMAZING MOVIE. GO SEE IT! Slow, but worth every cent

I think that Night is a brilliant filmaker, he creates great atmospheres and has great ideas/sotrylines, But the village just didnt do it for me. The Trailers were VERY deceptive. I know that most of the movie is supposed to be a secret but the movie is much more emotional and much less scary than it showed in the previews. All aside, i still liked the movie, the acting was great (props to Bryce Howard on a stellar debut role) I just htink that Night could have made a better movie. Fair nonetheless

This movie was one big let down. The first hour was boring and I figured out the ending early on. What a disappointment. The actors dialogue were wooden and Sigourney Weave especially was awful. The only thing worthwhile was Joaquin Phoenix and Adrian Brody. There were too many inconsistancies and the subplots were patchy. How anyone scould give it 4 stars is beyond me. It was a minus one star to me. A wasted afternoon.

The stupidest, boring most falsely advertised little house on the prairie non-horror non-thriller I have ever had the agony of watching, perhaps if it was advertised as a "DRAMA" rather then "THRILLER" I would not feel so ripped off!!

i LOVED it!!! The director is so good at doing movies like that. I loved how he always uses Red... its such a good suspenseful colour. I thought the twist was a good one. It took me by surprise. Everyone should see it!

3.5/5 stars. The eerie atmosphere is woven with great care and skill. Every detail of the set invokes the 19th century down to the cloaks and wooden buckets. Bryce Dallas Howard is a pleasure to watch and makes Ivey Walker a memorable character amid the tension in the village. Well thought out plot and spooky, effective score.

I didn`t like this movie very much. I`m the type that likes wierd/sci-fi scarry movies..but this one just didn`t make sense. It was very slow and the script was poorly written.
