Nice Refresh

January 22, 2017

Been a while since I took in a show at the Capital 6. All in all they did a great job refreshing the theatre. While the individual theatre screens appeared a bit old school by today's standards, with the screen elevated above the viewers (same as Odeon), the picture was clear as was the sound. The luxury seating was very comfortable, which made the movie auditorium a little more intimate. People did struggle finding their pre-assigned seats as the rows weren't clearly marked in the auditorium. Nice to see a Coke Freestyle dispenser and a good selection of items in the concession, including Orville Redenbachers brand popcorn. This project is a brave undertaking in Victoria's theatre market, but the refresh looks very professional and there didn't appear to be any shortcuts taken. I certainly won't hesitate taking in more show's at the Capital 6 in the future.

seats like home

December 30, 2016

Really great wide power recliners with leg rests. Cup holders on wide armrests. Seems like home with privacy. Popcorn pretty good, washroom clean, new flooring in lobby & ramps.

Best seat in town!

April 03, 2022

This is my favourite movie theatre in all of Greater Victoria - the most comfortable wide reclining seats that transform the movie watching experience! X-large screens in every theatre. I can’t comment on their popcorn as I am an anomaly and I don’t snack while watching a movie but the variety (and cleanliness) of the concession looks inviting! Love watching movies here!

nice seats - tiny screens - distracting theatre walls

February 26, 2017

Went to the Capitol 6 theatres yesterday (first time back since new ownership and remodel). Pros : Each theatre now contains full reclining super large seats. Seat reservations are available for all shows. Cons : The screens are teeny tiny compared to what we have become used to so we exchanged our original reservation for seats that were far closer to the screen (the staff were very happy to accommodate this request). The bathrooms are up a couple flights of stairs but not too too far away ( better than the theatre across the street that forces you through a maze of halls that feel a mile long but not as good as the newer ones with theatre level loo access.) There was no price board for concession items. The final con is one I shared with John after leaving the theatre because I had hoped it did not distract his viewing. Someone decided it would be a great idea to paint light coloured stripes ( cream I think) along the theatre walls. Even with house lights fully dimmed, the light from the screen reflected and illuminated these stripes and was present in my periphery the entire show. John says he did not notice but I'd say this is not a theatre to visit if you want an immersive experience. Also, for couples who like to get real close during a show, the seats are divided by high stationary armrests roughly a foot thick. I noted to John 'the good thing about these arm rests is that this will be a safe space for people who worry their new acquaintances may get a bit too handsy during a show'. The armrest seems to taunt affection seekers : You-shall-not-pass

It's been a long time.

December 24, 2017

It's been a long time since I have been to this theatre(Previous owner). Ticket sales girl thought I ordered two tickets(I was the only on in the lobby. $25.00 $2.75 difference between matinee and evening, What for? You go for a 3-d cough up another 3 bucks. I thought this was nuts then noticed she gave me two tickets. I Quickly clarified I was alone. Refunded one seat when manager arrived. Assigned seating was a surprise, is not necessary. Seats were interesting, reclining was nice wider armrests nice, headrest could have been a little firmer, nice cup holders. The concession staff was okay didn't explain the empty pop cup till I asked(younger generation just expects everyone to know all technologies. Candy prices are insane. $13.00 for a pop and a large popcorn is ridiculous.
