Pleasant but not helpful

July 30, 2015

I recently went to a movie and ordered 2 med. popcorn and 2 sm. drinks. When the server came back from getting our popcorn I mentioned that I have a "scene card" and he replied "I have already rung your order through and I forgot to ask if you had a scene card-sorry!" He went to get our drinks then returned and I asked him if there was any way he could cancel the order and give us our scene points? He answered " sorry ,no I can't do that. Others were waiting so I did not want to hold up the line, but this is a clear example of not looking after the customer first. I worked in sales and there was always a way to correct a mistake and satisfy the most important person to your business--the customer. The server was polite but unwilling to offer a remedy to my ( the customer ) problem. He should have asked if I had a scene card from the outset and I should have remembered to give him mine but in the end the only person who lost here was me---again, the customer. John

Staff Needs to Learn Their Jobs & Keep Quiet

August 06, 2013

After attending the Friday Aug 2nd at 10:00pm showing of Wolverine, I was outraged to see that the doors were not shut when the show started leaving a glow in the theatre and then to listen to other movies, blaring music the staff played, laughing, yelling back and forth along with dropping the dustpan beyond a reasonable count is outrageous considering we paid to enjoy the movie. I was supposed to leave my seat, miss the movie, and berrate your staff on your behalf? Absolutely, unacceptable behaviour by your supervising staff scheduled who didn't notice jobs were done like shutting the doors....really hard, would have probably prevented the rest of the outrage felt by so many in the theatre who kept looking up at the doors, but obviously felt the same way about paying and not seeing the show paid for.

Concession workers

January 14, 2017

Went to the theatre today in Nanaimo with my 89 year old mother & stood at the concession for at least 15 minutes, while the girls fumbled about trying to figure out how to use the 3D upgrade vouchers. One of them got on a walkie talkie & attempted to get some help, but still couldn't figure it out & basically just gave up. Sadly, we had to walk out of the theatre without seeing a movie. Anyway, I later decided to contact the manager, but was forced to leave a message & as you can probably guess. Was not returned. Very poor training, from top to bottom!

Forced to endure over 40 minutes of commercials before the show

January 01, 2016

We arrived at 3 for what was supposed to be a 3:25 start to Star Wars. I feel they should have to pay us for forcing us to sit through a loud and relentless barrage of assorted commercials, with a few previews thrown in at the end. The actual movie did not start until almost 3:45 pm. It makes watching movies at home on Netflix seem like a much better option.

This City needs more Theatres...

July 26, 2013

Being part of the Cineplex franchise it should come as no suprise that this theatre suffers from the big chain companies dissinterest in customer satisfaction, and focus on getting every dollar out of your pocket. The food is overpriced (and terrible tasting), pop in vending machines alone costs $4 a bottle almost twice as much as a normal machine, I go atleast twice a week and I rarely see the bathrooms clean, the seats are tight and cramp sacrificing comfort in order to pack as many people into their tiny theatre as possible. Unless its summer they rarely (almost never) show movies in the daytime, which is a large inconvienece for those who work at night, or like to avoid the nighttime crowding. BIG ISSUE: the theatres sound proofing is shoddy at best, you often have to deal with the issue of the movie next doors noise spilling over into your movie.

Painful Volume During Trailers and Advertisements

October 18, 2016

A few days ago I went to the Galaxy Theatre and the blast of the volume during the pre-show series of trailers and advertisements was so painful that I had to cover my ears with my fingers. The decibel level exceeded all reasonable norms for exposure to sound. The continuous showing of advertisements is exploitative given that we are a captive audience who have paid for our tickets and have to sit through this. The only excape is to leave the theatre during this pre-showing time and remain in the lobby. Is that fair and customer friendly. No!!

Customer service terrible

January 16, 2017

Customer service terrible and charged senior members of our group full adult ticket price. New seats were good. Only good thing about the experience. Staff poorly trained.
