The BEST theatre in town!!

November 05, 2016

I love this theatre, it's the only one I go to in Toronto. The prices are great and the popcorn is delicious!! The lobby always has very cool artwork too.

Love the old essence!

December 13, 2016

Haven't been to the theater since it's renovations but I love the old nostalgic vibes. It has a great layout and is perfect for a date night and anyone who wants to get away from the typical busy, bustling, over-priced theater experience.

Love the Rainbow theatre!

This is a great theatre, super location, always friendly and with a good selection of films. I have been a customer for more than 20 years whenever I am in Toronto. My favorite theatre.

Cheap and cheerful. The best place to catch a movie with the family. Our 'go to' theatre.

Our go to downtown theatre

January 03, 2017

I'd rather go to this theatre over the big bucks movie places any day of the week. Starts with the staff - fabulous down to earth, friendly and always helpful. The concession folk are amazing. I love that they don't upsell you into anything. Buy large popcorn and get a free refill - ahh yes please. The theatres are small but we like that. Yes it's a little outdated but we are ok with that too. The price point fits our family. We don't need 3D / IMAX or fancy seat service - a comfy chair, a big screen and a good audio system serves us perfectly. We love this gem. Oh and no cell phone service inside the theatre..bonus! We are downtown folk so the location across from the St Lawrence market is perfect for dinner and drinks afterwards!

Great cinema near a good day and night life. Reasonable prices and keeps on trucking with new releases as well as some passion showings.

Love Rainbow Market Sq

August 29, 2013

This is a wonderful theater in the heart of Downtown. I can't say exactly why but the place feels like home for some reason. The Grand Piano? Maybe. Art work in foyer? Maybe. Friendliness of the staff? Maybe. Matinees for moms. Maybe. I don't know. You just don't feel that you are being pushed through by a corporation. The place is human and I love it for that very reason. THank you

They will Search your bags for food and drinks! I will not be going back

August 15, 2017

This is a theater I have frequented with my sister, husband and other family members for over a year. I love it because it's not a big chain cinema, its cozy and has a more community feel. I usually visit this place atleast 3 times per month as I love watching movies. Unfortunately after today's experience I will never go back and will not recommend it to anyone. My sister and I went to Market Square today to watch Big Sick, we bought our tickets and as we tried to go to where the theaters are located (downstairs) there was a guard searching everyone's bags! Thinking its a security precaution I took no issue and let him check my bag, I had a small bag of Nachos in my bag, a vegan option which they generally don't have at the concession, the guard actually had the nerve to take my chips out of my bag without my permission saying I couldn't take it in. I was in shock for about 30 seconds, he went through my sisters bag, she had a bottle of (mood water) which her friend had specifically designed for me, the guy tried to confiscate that as well. At that point there was no way we were going to watch the movie, I thought what was going on was totally appalling , we took our chips and water and went back and asked for a refund, and went to Varsity theater to watch the movie. I should note they had a big bin and the security guard had confiscated a small bag of peanuts from the 2 couples that were in front of us. I then understood what the argument was about! The Irony here is 1- I've been trying my best to avoid cineplex and instead give my business to smaller community theaters like Market Square, 2. I always buy a popcorn and coke when I am at this theater and I had every intention of doing the same thing today. So by introducing this new "search and seizure" the theater lost the business of 2 loyal customers and got a bad review. what a shame...I will never go back and will not recommand it to anyone.
