Genderless washrooms are a mistake

November 17, 2023

Although I have always loved this theater and enjoyed coming to the unique events that main stream theaters lack, I don’t think I’ll be back due to the genderless washrooms. I felt very uncomfortable. Women and children have always been vulnerable people. In order to accommodate other people feeling included or safe, it has come at the expense of women and children feeling/being unsafe, uncomfortable and/or vulnerable.

Best theatre in town

March 15, 2023

The Metro is a gift that Edmonton doesn't deserve. The programming is top notch, playing populist stuff and deep cut indie or arthouse that you literally can't see anywhere else in this city. The popcorn is arguably the best in town, the staff is wonderful. Also, it's an old theatre with some rickety seats in places, but its truly a unique experience coming here. The gender neutral bathrooms are a nice touch as well.

Crazy bathroom situation

January 14, 2023

Love the movies here, but there is NO Way I will go in those genderless bathrooms, never mind letting a young girl or boy in there by themselves. Absolutely creeps me out - observed the two guys using the urinals to be very uncomfortable as well. When did it become a crime to want some privacy to perform private bodily functions? Very bad move on this. Won't come back to this theatre until this changes. Too many levels of weird here..... The theatre itself deserves many stars, but these bathrooms bring it down to less than a 1 star for me. I'm sad.

Unisex washrooms are a huge mistake

April 22, 2019

The Unisex washrooms are a huge mistake. I felt extremely uncomfortable as a female being in a bathroom with men. My adult male boyfriend was also very uncomfortable when he was at a urinal and a group of young girls walked in. This decision to "make everyone safe and comfortable" is catering to a small minority at the expense of the majority of people. I've always loved Metro but I don't think I'm going to continue going if they keep this.

Bathroom facilities

January 12, 2019

I was absolutely appalled when having to wait for a cubicle in a “ unisex” bathroom watching several men using the urinals. I sign on the door stated this was for the safety of all, what about the comfort and safety of a heterosexual female. This is not acceptable

Great Place with one drawback

May 17, 2018

I love the way it's layed out, the wine and beer, the shows are awesome. One drawback is the genderless bathrooms. It made my sister cringe. She didn't want to use the washrooms in case a man was in there. I don't blame her, it's just weird. My solution would be to add a third washroom for all the genders, however many there are. And make the two major washrooms men and women, the way it was before. I can't imagine a teenager being comfortable or the mom of a teenage girl being flashed by a dirty old man in there. Please change. It's basically unfair and almost abuse for the woman to force them into that situation.
