Amazing, best, most real movie i`ve seen in years, outstanding acting, a must see movie!

This is probably the most realistic alien movie ever made. Basically it`s people running for their lives for 2 hours, rather than non-stop BS heroics. Which is exactly what would happen. And the ending, while maybe anti-climactic, is probably the most realistic ENDING to an alien movie ever. If we have to win, at least it`s not because the president hopped in a stealth bomber (you know what I`m getting at) or some other nonsense. Great movie. The effects were amazing and the acting was very well done. Two thumbs up!

Wow, what a disappointment. There was a lot of hype for such a weak story line. I was not happy that I spent the money or the time to see such a lacking movie. Tom you need to pick your movies roles a little more carefully. Dakota Fanning was adorable as usual, but she wasn`t enough to make the film worthy. Two thumbs down.

The special effects and the acting are great, but the plot was not very original. Overall this movie is very good entertainment-wise, you have to watch it even if it`s just to see the special effects.

2 out of 5 stars. The storyline was weak, the movie was just plain weird. The actors did a really good job. But the storyline and the ending just made the movie awful.

Its no wonder that Cruise has not received an Oscar yet - and he won`t for this one either. He is no Orson Welles! Like most Hollywood projects, the story is not true to the original - but the viewer could live with that if it wasn`t for the typical sub-plot that Spielberg and Cruise decided to inject into the story (the deadbeat dad who has little in common with his kids, but rises to the challenge of protecting them under extreme danger). Special effects are good. A nice little sci-fi film to entertain you, but wait until it comes out on dvd. In my estimation it merits two stars.

OMG! This was an AMAZING movie. First of all to all people who didnt like it- Tom Cruise is a talented actor, thats why he got the part. And te ending was great!! It made it unique from all the other smae old bad guy gets beat by good guy ending. IT WAS AWESOME. This is by faw one of the BEST movies I`ve seen in my life! and I think the ending made sense!!!! VERY CREATIVE! GO WAR OF THE WORLDS <3

Do you want to know why I haven`t even seen this movie? Because Tom Cruise is in it. When he stops shoving his celebrity down our throats I might see it. Then again, probably not.

ZZZZZ, I`m sorry, I`m still a little sleepy from watching this movie. What a waste of money. Tom Cruise is a very over-rated actor. I would not recommend this movie to anyone.

this wasn`t a good movie...there was no climax or story line...it seemed as if everything was happening without a purpose...the acting was over the top i thought, too dramatic...i didnt find anything clever in the movie, it`s all the same stuff over again...tom cruise is an american boy with an american car, with an american flag, with a troubled son, and with a scream happy daughter...give me a break

in the original, the aliens die because of a (spoiler). i went to the movie thinking they might have changed the ending. i was wrong: they give it away in the FIRST FIVE MINUTES!!! what a waste of $10.

I don`t see how people think it was bad because in my pint of view it was an awesome and cool movie-5 stars from me. See i find the actors did very very well as if this was actually happening. Tom Cruise was great along with Dakota Fanning and Justin Chatwin. If your looking for a great night out-go see this movie-cool,freaky and awesome-It really makes you think about how important life and family and friends are and how lucky we all are for being alive, here on earth. I say if you didn`t like it-you completely missed the moral and pount of the movie. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The movie is very dissapointing to see. The ads and all the publicity about the movie are very misleading. Story line = (what story line? Did they forgot to watch this movie before releasing it?) There is no element to this movie. (by element i mean like sad, happy, heroic moment) I give this a 2 out of 5 stars. This is much better than blair witch project.

I thought that this movie was absolutely terrifying! Steven Spielberg sets the tone really well, and the acting, especially Dakota Fanning`s, helps you get into the oh-my-god-the-aliens-are-coming mind set. It was great! I caught myself several times, staring at the screen, my eyes wide in horror and my hands over my mouth. The ending seemed a little random, but the rest of the movie had me completely absorbed. This is summer block buster that definately needs to be seen in theatres for the full adreneline rush effect

i just saw the movie a couple hours ago and i must say that i enjoyed it. i was a little disappointed cuz i was expecting it to be AMAZING, but it wasnt. i give it 3.5 stars cuz the acting was well done, but personally i think cruise could have done better...oh well. the ending was great and anybody who couldnt understand it needs help...it was pretty clear how it ended. overall great movie!

The special effects in this movie was good and the acting, however going on the assumption that many have not read the book, nor seen the original movie, it would have been better to work on the story line, and get the audience involved with the characters lives. I give it ** stars out of *****.

Overall a 3 star movie. Tom cruise, Justin Chatwin and Dakota Fanning were awesome. Dakota Fanning suprised me the most. She is very talented for her age. Also,forget all the Tom Cruise hype and enjoy the movie. Throughout the movie, there was a set mood. A very creepy feeling. Great directing but disappointing ending.

Very faithful to the original book and even a few reminisances from the 59 movie version thrown in. Many people seemed to dislike the ending which was in fact perfectly faithful to the book written by H.G. Wells and published in the 1890`s. This was the original alien invasion story. Yes, thats right, THE ORIGINAL, he created the genre so show some respect to the story before you spout off and display your ignorance of literature. Oh and btw, great movie. The first sight of an alien tripod rising from the earth will stay resident in my memory for many years to come.

How could you people NOT get the ending!!?? It`s the same as the book and the original film and is one of the more famous endings ever. Morgan Freeman`s narration even explained it. Or did it use too many big words?? In the end it`s called I-R-O-N-Y. Maybe the next time they remake it they`ll dumb it down a bit more and tell you flat out. Nice adaptation if not 100% faithful, though neither was the original movie. Had some scary moments and built up suspence nicely. Liked the social commentary in the film, which probably also flew over everyone`s head. The bit with Tim Robbins` psycho was pretty freaky as well.

With the exception of the special effects, tension factor and Dakota Fanning, this is probably the worst Stephen Spielberg movie I`ve seen. Totally disappointing. You better read the book before you see it. Otherwise, next...

i think it`s short-sighted to assume someone who didn`t like the ending didn`t understand it....i get why the aliens were defeated, I just think they did a poor, rushed job of explaining it...when you have a two hour saga and the conlusion is literally a sentence, of course people will feel dissatisfied...they should have even added five minutes of a "news report" or something to better explain and tie up loose ends...movie was 3 stars, no more no less
