One of Steven`s and Cruise`s worst movie`s ever. The beginning was very well thought of, and the middle had a lot of time put into it, but th ENDING felt rushed and totally just PUT OUT for the sake of fnishing. Very unengrossing, very repetitive, and very boring. It lacked a lot. Tom`s character was very poorly scripted. Lately, with all the buzz and attention, you would think that Cruise`s FATHER ROLE would be hightened, instead of deminished. The movie needed a lot more work, time, and talent. It did not seem like a Speilberg movie at all. Maybe thats why so much attention and publicitty was put towards the TOMKAT relationship, to HELP THI

The alien-invasion in this movie is incredibly unrealistic, but the film is terrifying in its suspense. If you like to be scared out of your wits: go see it. If you prefer adventure sci-fi, spare yourself the money. I hated it.

i think that this is THE MUST SEE SUMMER MOVIE OF 2005. it had action, story, crazy visual effects, ONE AND ONLY STEVEN SPIELBERG and TOM CRUISE. what a combo. what else can you ask for??? great POPCORN MOVIE. the ENDING IS KIND OF A LETDOWN but nonetheless its a GRRRRRRRRRREAT MOVIE. don`t MISS IT.

Great movie! I almost did not see this movie because of some of the naegative comments, but went anyway and glad I did. It is a gritty movie, not light and entertaining like Independence Day, but the futility and desperation made it almost like a documentary of some horrible event....it`s too fantastical to make it seem real to our senses...but it`s not the kind of movie that thrills you with delight, it makes you think and wonder, it`s horrifying and terrible to imagine....very, very, well done, superb, can`t say enough....

The ending is reasonable but surprisingly short. I guess it makes all the space evasion impossible eventually. Special effect is great and shocking. And although Dakota Fanning`s screaming is a bit annoying, I guess that`s the reality if things in the movie happen in real world. :D

A good modern variation on the H.G.Well`s story. Unlike the 1952 movie, these martian machines are much more like the descriptions in the original story. As an aside, when the first machine stood up in this movie, I could have sworn I saw a puff of steam. It didn`t look fake but I`m sure Well`s would have related to this. Story wise this movie is on parr with the 1952 version. Special effects wise it is much better.

This movie was good, I just felt i was watching other things, like Signs, and video game called half life 2, everything in the movie was borrowed from somewhere. If you`ve see any of the two titles I just mentioned you will know what i mean when you see this movie. Check it out none the less

An excellent film about how something could possibly happen. Although I doubt all that could be reality, there is a possibility. Never say never. Anyway, Dakota Fanning delivers another superb performance and I`m still trying to decide if it is as good as HIDE AND SEEK or better.

*sigh* There are way to many people who know nothing of what they speak about... this was an excellent movie, though personally i found the little girl quite anoying, im able to look past a movies few flaws and look at its genius, the book that this movie is based of was made in 1898 or something... people liked the book, so they made the movie, like the book(wow, smart!) If you don`t like it, dislike it, just pissoff and stop posting incoherent crap about how bad it is, not everyone likes everything, get over it (and learn how an EMP pulse works before you call the creators of the movie stupid...)

Don`t bother! The characters were beyond stupid and the ending was horrible. I would suggest watch Cinderella Man instead.

I thought the movie was acutally well done. There was pretty much action throughout the movie except for the middle. I wanted to see more of a battle from the humans, but I guess that was done in Independance Day. The ending could have been a little bit better, but it still made sence. I would take a chance and check this movie out.

War of the Worlds...4 out of 5..I was not expecting much from this movie, because its a remake and it`s also Hollywood. I set there watching this movie dazed i never blinked. I was amazed by the effects and by Tom Cruise...because I dont really like his acting, but this was his moment. A must see.

Entertaining but full of directorial flaws, ex. Tom`s battery operated watch doesn`t work but all other battery operated items (cameras etc..) do....thus a disapointing movie overall.

One day this movie will be a classic . . . just like the original. You`ll regret not seeing it on the big screen. Great special effects but story was just as stupid as the ending. If you don`t pay attention to the narration at the end you`ll end up asking "What the *&%$ happened?" If you like special effects, go see it. If you like to watch a "movie" wait for it on DVD and borrow your friend`s (no, don`t buy it!)

It was the best movie so far this year! It was more like a roller coaster ride than a movie. It was full of excitement and action and I could hardly take a breath as I watched them try to escape total world extermination. Tom Cruise was excellent and Dakota Fanning was superb. And hats off to Steven Spielberg who had amazing action sequences and classic Spielberg shots.

to sum up this movie, tom cruise deals with family issues while on the run from attacking aliens and ships. he just runs and hides and runs and hides (with his screaming daughter in his arms.) it`s really not good.

I thought it was close enough to the original to have some "familiarity", yet changed enough to keep it interesting. The SFX where great, but I would like to have seen more detail from the "Official/Gov`t/Military point of view. I found that just like in the movie "Signs", (which was also a good movie) I find that when a movie that is Global in its effect, focuses on only several people, that it leaves me feeling like I missed out on a lot of relevant information.

Recommendation: -read the book first or -watch the 1950s movie first or -just know the ending I read the book already and the events in the movie follow the book for the most part. If there is any way to lead up to the ending even though the movie is in Rey`s POV, then say it, don`t just complain. awesome movie

I thought it ROCKED. The whole movie was fast paced and brfore i knew it the ending had arrived. The only problem I had with it was it left you with the feeling it should have been a little longer running time. The ending was a little disappointing however like I saids befor the movie ROCKED.
