Just blocks away from the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Studio 10 is the only big-screen multiplex in the Sydney area. It began as an eight-screen theatre, the Empire 8, and was renamed in 2002, adding two more screens and the added benefit of stadium seating. Now, close to 1,800 Sydney residents can enjoy the latest Hollywood blockbusters with a soft, made-to-order pretzel in hand and discounted rates on Tuesdays and during March Break (where weekday matinees cost a toonie). The Studio 10 also hosts the Cape Breton Island Film Series, where it has shown top-quality, independent films.
