SilverCity Richmond Hill
A popular option for suburban audiences in the Richmond Hill area, this 14-screen SilverCity originally opened in May 1998 with 10 large auditoriums with wall-to-wall screens. The following year, an extra four cinemas were built on the theatre’s west wing. The SilverCity Richmond Hill was also one of the only theatres in Canada to show a live, free-of-charge HD broadcast of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremonies on all of its screens—and given the multiculturalism of the nearby suburbs, it was an appropriate theatre. The SilverCity installed an UltraAVX auditorium in February 2011 and it now has two UltraAVX Screens, as well as seven 3D Screens and one DBOX Screen. Wheelchair accessibility is offered, as are Fidelio described video, Assisted Listening Devices and CaptiView Captioning. Parking is free.
