TIFF fans go wild for Gosling, Blue Valentine

Canadian actor Ryan Gosling arrived to a cheering crowd for the premiere of Blue Valentine at the Ryerson Theatre on Wednesday evening - a film that left TIFFgoers raving about the performances of both Gosling and co-star Michelle Williams.

Gosling walked the red carpet in a grey suit, greeting fans before heading inside to the screening of one of the festival’s hot tickets.

As evidence of the excitement generated by his visit to TIFF, Gosling was also one of the top trending topics on Twitter in Canada early Wednesday evening.

Blue Valentine, which reportedly wowed audiences at its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, is the story of love found and love lost, told in past and present moments in time. Flooded with romantic memories of their courtship, Dean (played by Gosling) and Cindy (played by Williams) use one night to try and save their failing marriage, in what is described as an honest portrait of a relationship on the rocks.

Following the screening, moviegoers told Tribute that the performances of both actors were phenomenal, and that Blue Valentine tells a very good story with many real life examples that a lot of people in the audience can relate to.

The film is set to be released in selected theatres this December.
