Philippe Falardeau Interview - Monsieur Lazhar

Philippe Falardeau’s film Monsieur Lazhar poses an interesting question: how do we talk to children about death? In the film, an elementary school teacher in Quebec creates a bond with two of his students who are dealing with the suicide of their former teacher.

Falardeau talks to Toni-Marie Ippolito of Tribute about the parallels between this lead character and the actor who plays him (Monhamed Fellag) and why having all of his feature films premiered at TIFF has led to talks of deportation.
