CBS Films acquires The F Word

CBS Films has announced they have acquired the U.S. rights to The F Word, a romantic-comedy from Canadian filmmaker Michael Dowse that made its world premiere at TIFF this week. Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan, Rafe Spall and Megan Park, the film follows the increasingly romantic friendship between medical-school dropout Wallace (Radcliffe) and animator Chantry (Kazan), who lives with her boyfriend Ben (Spall). One of three Daniel Radcliffe films at TIFF this year, it represents a coup for CBS, who view the filmĀ as a "romantic comedy for a new generation that calls to mind classics like Say Anything and When Harry Met Sally," said CBS Films co-president Wolfgang Hammer. Shot in Toronto, the film has already generated significant buzz at the festival, with Dowse following up his hockey comedy Goon with a lighter and warmer touch. He said in a CBC interview that "Girls will go see it and boyfriends will come and won't want to throw up in their own mouths." Entertainment One, which co-financed the film, will distribute the film in Canada and the U.K. ~Raj-Kabir Birk
