In the first trailer for The Shape of Water, Eliza (Sally Hawkins) checks in each day to her job as a cleaner at a high-security government laboratory alongside her co-worker, Zelda (Octavia Spencer). She sees a lot of interesting things at the lab, including a living, intelligent creature capable of language and of understanding emotions, who was captured in the Amazon and is now imprisoned in a small tank of water. She establishes a connection with him and begins to look forward to coming to work each day to see him.
