The gala presentation of director Janus Metz's film Borg/McEnroe took place last night at Roy Thompson Hall to open the first official evening of TIFF 2017.
It was a crowded red carpet premiere with stars of the film and movie lovers coming together to mark the start of the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film stars Shia LaBeouf as crass tennis star John McEnroe who would face his greatest rival, the world renowned Björn Borg (played by Sverrir Gudnason).
The two would have an intense rivalry that would later peak at the 1980 Wimbledon Championships. This film captures their heated, but entertaining, sense of competition.
Shia LaBeouf and co-stars Sverrir Gudnason and Stellan Skarsgård, as well as director Janus Metz all took to the red carpet to promote the premiere of the film and pose with fans.
