Adam Driver, Francis Ford Coppola at Megalopolis premiere

After toasting the film Megalopolis at a pre-reception at Estiatorio Milos, filmmakers, cast and guests attended the red carpet Gala screening of Megalopolis hosted by Lionsgate at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.

Writer, director, and producer Francis Ford Coppola celebrated the film at Roy Thomson Hall on Monday, September 9, 2024 with cast members Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Grace VanderWaal, and D.B. Sweeney in attendance.

The film has been described as a political drama, philosophical science fiction, and star-crossed romance with Oscar nominee Adam Driver playing visionary architect Cesar Catilina, whose utopian ambitions clash with the more earthbound demands of a modern city.

The director gave a moving introduction to the film onstage prior to the film, calling out Canadian crew members and singing the Ontario Song.

Following the screening, Francis Ford Coppola and the cast returned to the stage for a lively Q&A, moderated by TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey. All Photos by Robert Okine.  ~Alexandra Heilbron
