Amber Appleton (Auli'i Cravalho) is an upbeat high school student with a big dream. She seems to have it all, but everything isn't as great as it appears. She and her mother are homeless, so each night, they sleep on a school bus. Things start to look up when Amber gets an audition for the school of her dreams, Carnegie Mellon, but when her mother loses her job, Amber feels her future is uncertain. That is, until her friends convince her to let them help.
