In the trailer for Indian Horse, a Native Canadian boy watches others play hockey on an outdoor rink. He asks to join in and easily scores goal after goal. Later, when he gets older, he's playing on an indoor rink on a team with uniforms. He trips and sees that people are throwing plastic Indian figurines on the ice to taunt him. We then go back in time, to see him dragged away from his family and forced into Christianity at a residential school. His hair is chopped off. He reveals the rink became his escape and his survival. He soon discovered it was his way out of the life he'd been forced into.
