The official trailer for My Dead Boyfriend begins as Mary (Heather Graham) sluggishly walks home from work and heats up a meal when she arrives. Her boyfriend Primo (John Corbett) is sitting in a recliner chair watching TV. She asks him, "How did the job search go today?" She doesn't get an answer, so she looks him in the face and discovers that he's dead.
As the trailer continues, it's revealed that Mary was fired shortly before finding Primo and that the man she thought was a lazy, unambitious loser had more contacts and impacted more people than she ever imagined. As Mary explores a side to Primo that she was never granted access to, she begins to find her own life on a new trajectory.
