Labelled a "terrorist lawyer," defence attorney Nancy Hollander (Jodie Foster) looks to represent Mohamedou Ould Slahi (Tahar Rahim), a man held at Guantanamo Bay Prison Camp who is believed to be the head recruiter for the 9/11 attacks. Kidnapped from his home and wrapped in chains, Mohamedou was imprisoned for three years without charges from the U.S. Government. Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Couch (Benedict Cumberbatch) tells Nancy that Mohamedou faces the death penalty, but as he looks into the case himself, he begins to suspect that a bigger conspiracy is at hand.
