At a remote Space Station, scientist Augustine Lofthouse (George Clooney) tells a little girl about a spaceship that's returning to Earth from a planet where they hope they can build a future. When the spaceship loses contact with NASA and everyone else on Earth, the astronauts don't believe it's a glitch. Something catastrophic has occurred. Augustine has to find a way to get across the frozen wasteland to a stronger antenna so he can communicate with the astronauts and warn them.
