Brittany's father visits Kayla's (Joey King) house because neither she nor his daughter made it to dance camp. He thinks maybe they took off for the day together, but Kayla's mother tells him her daughter was sick, so she didn't go. In a flashback, we see that while driving his daughter Kayla and Brittany (Devery Jacobs) to a weekend retreat, Jay (Peter Sarsgaard) pulls over to the side of the road when the girls request a bathroom break. He hears a scream and finds only Kayla, who admits that she pushed Brittany, who then fell off the bridge into an icy river. Her parents lie to cover up what happened, but the lies keep escalating.
