Dallas McCarthy (Julian Feder) plays pool at bars with his father, Cal McCarthy (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who teaches him how to use his skills to hustle others. When an argument between Cal and Dallas' mother, Gina (Julie Ann Emery), leads to Cal leaving home, Dallas blames her and hits the road to find his dad. When Dallas runs into trouble, he meets Joe Haley (David Strathairn), who tries to help the young boy by guiding him down the right path.
