Cary Elwes sued

Actor Cary Elwes, better known as Westley the funny farmhand in the 1987 romantic comedy The Princess Bride, is making news headlines for a $40,334.12 debt. Stemming back years, Elwes owes this large sum to Wells Fargo and in 2010 the financial company asked Elwes to start paying off some of the sum. Elwes appeared cooperative at first, handing over a check for $2,000, but hasn’t made any payments since. The British actor, who also starred in blockbusters such as Twister and Liar Liar, is now being sued by debt collection agency Investment Retrievers Inc. on behalf of Wells Fargo. IRI is demanding Elwes pay $38,334.12, as well as all applicable lawyer fees and the interest owed on his sizable debt. A court hearing has been scheduled for March 13, 2013.
