Civil War retains top spot at weekend box office again

Three new movies debuted in the top five at this weekend’s box office, but they didn’t have strong enough openings to knock last week’s No. 1 movie from its place at the top.

Civil War, a futuristic tale of America at war with itself again topped the box office, taking in an extra $11.1 million for a two-week total of $44.9 million.

The horror movie Abigail, about a 12-year-old ballerina who is kidnapped and held for ransom at an abandoned mansion, debuted in second this weekend with $10.2 million.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was pushed down a spot to third, garnering an additional $9.5 million for a four-week total of $171.6 million. Click here to read our review.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare from director Guy Ritchie debuted in the fourth spot, earning $9 million.
