Dane DeHaan, 26, will star opposite Robert Pattinson, 27, in Anton Corbijn’s Life. The film will chronicle the friendship that blossomed between legendary actor James Dean (DeHaan) and Life magazine photographer Dennis Stock (Pattinson), who was assigned to photograph the star prior to his breakout role in 1955’s East of Eden. “Finding the right actor to play James Dean was a big responsibility, but Dane’s body of work has proved what a chameleon he is and what he will contribute to the role,” said producers Iain Canning and Emile Sherman in a joint statement. “Casting Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan brings together two of the most exciting young actors of their generation.” The role of James Dean was previously played by actor James Franco in a 2001 TV movie. Coincidentally, this marks the second role that Dane is taking over from Franco. In next summer’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Dane will be taking on the role of Harry Osborne, portrayed by Franco in the original Sam Raimi trilogy. Life will be co-produced by See-Saw Films and First Generation Films. Filming starts in February 2014. ~Alfonso Espina
