Lorde deletes cheeky tweets directed at church

At 17, Lorde sure knows how to spark flames and controversy. Word has it that the Westboro Baptist Church plans to picket her upcoming concert in Kansas City on March 21. It seems the controversial church disapproves of Lorde – whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor – for taking God’s name in vain. As for the singer’s reply? She tweeted: “Everyone wear rainbow clothing to that show … [and] try to kiss church members who are same sex as you. They will so love it. Christmas comin early in kansas city.” The “Royals” singer deleted the tweets soon after, and the reason behind her sudden change of heart is not known. The Baptist Church is known for its extreme stance against homosexuals. In a recent interview with an Australian radio station, Lorde fired back at a DJ who suggested that she and gal pal Taylor Swift may be involved. She was quick to snap back, saying: “Is there something wrong with lesbians? Is that what you’re trying to say?” ~Yara Matar
