Following the announcement last week of rocker John Mellencamp’s split from his third wife, it now appears that actress Meg Ryan may be the reason. Ryan, 49, and Mellencamp, 59, were seen as early as last October walking arm-in-arm in New York City. Recently, they’ve been spotted on Martha’s Vineyard, an island off the coast of New England. In New York they’re reportedly regular customers at the Gourmet Garage grocery store (they enter and leave separately to avoid photographers). A source told people.com: “She usually comes in by herself or with her daughter [Meg adopted a daughter from China in 2006]. I thought that was her husband because they seemed comfortable and familiar with each other, just like an old married couple.” Meg split from husband Dennis Quaid in 2001 after her affair with Russell Crowe made headlines. Mellencamp’s track record reveals that he was involved with other women prior to the breakup of both of his previous marriages. Meg has a son, Jack, with Quaid. Mellencamp has five children from his three marriages.
