The show, which is currently filming its sixth season in Baltimore, Maryland, will air its final season next year. Spacey won a Golden Globe in 2015 for his performance as Francis Underwood on the popular series.
Netflix and its producing partner, Media Rights Capital, released a joint statement earlier today that read: “Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey. In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time.”
Spacey was also cast in the title role in the upcoming Netflix original movie Gore, about a young man in Italy who meets his idol, Gore Vidal. According to Deadline.com, Netflix is currently considering putting the film on the chopping block. It was to star Douglas Booth as a young British writer who catches Vidal’s eye. ~Alexandra Heilbron
