Wachowskis sued for stealing Matrix ideas

Lana and Andy Wachowski, along with movie producer Joel Silver, are being sued for copyright infringement by Thomas Althouse. The $300 million lawsuit emerged after Althouse saw The Matrix trilogy for the first time in 2010. He recognized numerous similarities between the scripts of the Matrix sequels — The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003) — and his own movie script, The Immortals, such as robotic-like “agents” and the concept of plugs in the back of characters’ necks. Mr. Althouse sent his script to Warner Bros. in 1993 but never heard back from them. The Wachowskis have yet to respond to Thomas Althouse’s accusations. The siblings are best known for their work on The Matrix trilogy, V for Vendetta (2005), and most recently Cloud Atlas (2012). The Matrix trilogy, their most successful project to date, grossed $1.16 billion worldwide. The duo are currently working on the upcoming move Jupiter Ascending, due out in 2014. ~ Cassie Jasinski
